Indian Hills Golf Coach Weant Departs

Weant

Ottumwa -- Nathan Weant, who led the Indian Hills golf team to a national title this spring, is leaving to return to the University of Louisiana Monroe.  Weant was an assistant coach at ULM when he was hired to take over the golf program at IHCC and he will once again be an assistant coach at the Louisiana school.

In his lone season in charge, Weant's Warriors won the 2018 NJCAA Division I national championship and he was named the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award winner for NJCAA schools.  Indian Hills won three of four meets last fall and followed that up with first-place finishes in six of seven competitions in the spring season, culminating with their nine-stroke margin over runnerup Iowa Western for the national title.

Weant replaced Rob Murray as IHCC golf coach last September after Murray left to become an assistant coach at Kansas State.

Indian Hills athletic director Dr. Brett Monaghan said a search for Weant's successor has already begun and he hopes to be able to name a new coach soon.
