WARRIORS SET FOR CENTRAL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

Hastings, NE – The Indian Hills Men's Golf team is set to open play at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Golf Central District Championship at the Lochland Country Club on Monday. The two-day event will feature nine teams from two regions.

The No. 7 nationally ranked Warriors will take the links in a loaded field that consists of Indian Hills and Iowa Western from NJCAA Region XI and seven teams from NJCAA Region VI (KS), including No. 4 nationally ranked and defending national champions Hutchinson Community College (KS). The tournament features five of the top-15 teams in the current national rankings while all nine are ranked inside the top-35.

"As a team, we have been practicing hard this spring and battling the challenging weather conditions to get ready for our post season," stated head coach Michael Wetrich. "Our guys are prepared to have a great tournament in Nebraska, and we look forward to showcasing all of our hard work this year at the District tournament."

The Warriors head to Nebraska with a five-man lineup of Frank Vucic (Adelaide, Australia/Seaford Secondary College), Ryan Thomas (Launceston, AU/Rowville Secondary), Mitchell Revie (Queensland, Australia/Robina State), Jaskaran Sohal (Queensland, Australia/Hills International College), and Max T. Hartmann (Oslo, Norway/Wang Toppidrett). Vucic enters the tournament as the third-highest ranked individual at No. 18 in the NJCAA Golf Stat poll. Hutchinson's Ben Partridge enters as the top-ranked golfer in the nation followed by teammate Harry Crockett at No. 5.

Indian Hills has won four of the previous five NJCAA Central District Championships dating back to the 2016 season, with the 2020 tournament cancelled due to COVID-19. The Warriors claimed three consecutive individual medalist honors from 2016-18 in Jackson Bugdalski, Rickey Sanders, and Julien Sale.

Day one on Monday opens at 9:00 AM CST with a shotgun start and teams will compete for 36 holes followed by another 9:00 AM CST shotgun start on Tuesday with 18 holes. The top half of the team's participating will qualify for the national championship plus any of the top-10 individuals whose team does not qualify. The 2022 NJCAA National Championship will be played May 10-13 in Odessa, TX.

The Lochland course features 6,934 yards of golf with a par of 72. The course rating is 72.2 and has a slope rating of 127 on rye grass.
