CARLETTA NAMED ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Jose Carletta (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Rioclaro) put together his strongest showing of the season to earn Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golf Athlete of the Week honors.

Carletta collects his first-career weekly honor at Indian Hills after tying for the team lead at the Highland Meadows Intercollegiate in Sylvania, OH. Carletta becomes the second Indian Hills men's golfer to earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors this year while the program has earned eight weekly honors all together this season.

Competing as the lone junior college program in the 11-team field at the Highland Meadows Golf Course, the Warriors were anchored by Carletta's seventh-place finish. The sophomore posted a 3-under 210 to tie with teammate Gaspar Glaudas (Sainte Tulle, France/Shattuck St-Mary's). Carletta posted bookend rounds of 71 to go along with a second round 68, the sophomore's best round of the year.

Carletta has emerged down the stretch as the Warriors gear up for postseason play. The sophomore has collected three consecutive top-10 finishes while finishing under par in two of those events.

The Warriors return to action at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI  Men's Golf Central District Championship at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City, MO April 29-30, the final tune-up before the NJCAA National Championship in Hobbs, NM May 14-18.
