Ottumwa -- Indian Hills forward Jamel Allen this week signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UMKC.  Allen is part of a talented sophomore class at IHCC and is the first player from that class to decide on a college for next year.

The 6-7 Allen, from Brentwood, N.Y., averaged 8.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for the Warriors a season ago in helping lead them to a 29-5 record and a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament.  He led the team in free throw shooting, making 86 percent of his foul shots.

UMKC coach Kareem Richardson said, "We are extremely excited to welcome Jamel to our program.  He is a talented wing/forward that brings a combination of size, athleticism and skill to our team.  He brings a winning pedigree coming from Indian Hills."
