Indian Hills Trounces Moberly

BB vs. MACC

Moberly, Missouri -- No. 6 Indian Hills broke open a close game by outscoring Moberly Area CC, 55-26, in the final half and the Warriors crushed the 8th-ranked Greyhounds, 92-60, in the battle of ranked teams on Saturday night.

The Warriors put together their best half of basketball of the season in rolling over Moberly for IHCC's 8th straight win.

Indian Hills enjoyed a 14-point lead in the opening half before Moberly whittled the margin down to 37-34 by intermission.  The Greyhounds' 11-for-11 free throw shooting helped them stay close as they managed only 11 field goals in the first period.  IHCC took control with a 10-0 spurt that Connor Murrell capped with a 3-pointer.

Antonio "Booman" Williams contributed his latest superb all-around game to begin his sophomore campaign, scoring a career-high 20 points to top the Warriors.  His field goal and pair of foul shots started the barrage that saw IHCC rattle off 11 unanswered points in 1:58 to open the final half.  Williams even drilled two threes, doubling his season output.

The 11-0 burst made the score 48-34 and Indian Hills was off to the races as their defense continued to harass the Greyhounds and the Warriors steadily pulled away.  Moberly had been a very good 3-point shooting team early in the season, but they managed just one made three in the game (in 19 attempts), and that came on their second field goal of the night.  They were held to 32 percent field goal shooting.  The Warriors shot 55 percent and connected on 9-of-20 shots from behind the arc.

IHCC piled up 26 points in the first 7:51 of the second half and the final margin was the largest of the contest.

Tomas Woldetensae added 15 points to a balanced IHCC attack that had six players reach double figures.  Murrell banged home four 3-pointers and established a season high with his 14 points; Ivan Aurrecoechea also scored 14, Shane Gatling had 11 and Rob Montgomery 10.

Indian Hills made it a weekend sweep of Region 16 foes by beating State Fair and Moberly, handing each their first loss of the year.  Next up is another undefeated team out of Region 16 - Missouri State-West Plains - whom the Warriors will host on the first night of the Cambridge Investments Classic next Friday night.
