Mesa, Arizona -- In what was billed as maybe the toughest in-season tournament of the year, Indian Hills rolled to three straight victories, the Warriors capping their string of impressive performances with an 82-68 win against South Plains (Texas) in the Fiesta Bowl Shootout championship matchup on Saturday night.  In beating the Texans, the defending champs in the Shootout, No. 3 rated Indian Hills kept its record perfect at 16-0 and knocked off the team that was ranked third in the preseason.

The Warriors used an 11-2 first-half run to take control and built a 20-point advantage late in the game, improving their alltime mark against South Plains to 5-1.  IHCC is 24-2 against Texas schools since 1993.

Tournament MVP Antonio "Booman" Williams had his second double-double in as many nights, pouring in 19 points and snaring 11 rebounds.  Williams was joined on the all-tourney team by Ivan Aurrecoechea, who had a double-double of his own -- 13 points and 15 boards.  Indian Hills piled up a 51-35 edge on the glalss and held South Plains to 40 percent shooting.

IHCC won by double-digits despite shooting just under 40 percent.  But the Warriors made 8-of-20 threes -- South Plains was 3-of-21 -- and committed only seven turnovers.

Neither side led by more than five points through the early part of the first half before the Warriors tallied 11-of-13 points, highlighted by five in a row by Aurrecoechea and an offensive rebound goal from James Jean-Marie.  That bucket put the score at 31-20 with under five minutes left until halftime.  The IHCC lead was nine at intermission.

Deshawn Corprew, who had only two points in the opening half, tried to keep the Texans alive in the final 20 minutes, scoring 25 points.  He had 19 of their first 21 points in the period, but the Warriors were getting contributions up and down the lineup -- all nine players who saw action in the last half had a field goal -- and the lead was up to 20 points late.

Williams scored 45 points in the three games.  Aurrecoechea had two games with 15 rebounds and pulled down 37 total.  Shane Gatling, who erupted for 34 points in IHCC's first game, ended the tourney with 55 points.

Against South Plains, Jamel Allen had his fourth 17-point game of the year, tying his career high.

Indian Hills returns home to play back-to-back games next weekend.  They will entertain No. 8 ranked Moberly (Mo.) on Friday night and Malcolm X Saturday.  IHCC owns an earlier victory over Moberly, having thrashed the Greyhounds, 92-60, in late November in Missouri.
