NO. 5 IHCC TOPPLES CASPER AT HOME

Ottumwa, IA – No. 5 Indian Hills Men's Basketball led from start-to-finish in its most impressive win of the season as the Warriors toppled visiting Casper College (WY) 83-67 at the Hellyer Center on Thursday night. Indian Hills improves to 4-1 on the year.

The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead to open the night and led by as many as 28 in the first half to take down the Thunderbirds. The 83 points are the most for the Warriors through the first five contests of the season and have now won three consecutive games.

Yacine Toumi (Meudon, France/Arkansas Little Rock) provided his best individual performance of the young season as the sophomore went a perfect 7-7 from the floor to finish with 14 points. Toumi also collected four rebounds and a blocked shot in the win.

Sophomore Taj Anderson (Queens, NY/Quality Education) came off the bench to score 14 points, his third double-digit scoring effort on the year. Andre Harris (Cleveland, OH/Wright State) added 10 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Eddiean Tirado (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Miami Triple Threat), this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Athlete of the Week, hit three three-point shots to finish with nine points for the Warriors.

Thursday's contest saw the Warriors jump out to an early lead, but it was Toumi who pushed the advantage to double digits. The sophomore connected on back-to-back buckets within the first two minutes on the floor to give Indian Hills a 22-9 lead. Toumi's lay-in with 8:13 to play in the opening half gave the Warriors a 32-12 edge. Indian Hills maintained the comfortable margin and went into halftime leading 47-25.

Tirado knocked down a three early on in the second half as the team connected on four three-point shots in the final 20 minutes of play. Casper never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way as Indian Hills came out on top for its first-ever victory over the Thunderbirds. 

The Warriors outrebounded Casper 46-35 on the night and forced 17 turnovers, scoring 23 points off the Thunderbird miscues. Indian Hills outmuscled Casper with a 38-20 points in the paint advantage as well as a 13-5 edge in second-chance points.

Indian Hills turns its attention to this weekend's Bowling RV Classic at the Hellyer Center. The six-team, five-game event kicks off Friday at 3:00 PM with the Warriors taking on McCook Community College at 7:00 PM Friday night. For more information, visit: BOWLING RV CLASSIC HOMEPAGE
