WARRIORS FALTER ON THE ROAD AT NO. 15 TRITON

River Grove, IL – The No. 13 ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball team suffered an 81-65 road defeat at No. 15 Triton College (IL) on Wednesday night. The Warriors fall to 16-5 overall on the year.

Wednesday's loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Warriors. The matchup vs. the nationally ranked Trojans was the seventh top-25 matchup of the year for Indian Hills and the first of two meetings between the two cross-state foes.

Sophomore Braden Sparks (Villa Rica, GA/Mercer) scored a team-high 13 points and led the Warriors with four assists to go along with five rebounds. Amarion Nimmers (Rock Island, IL/Iowa) connected on 3-4 three-point shots to finish the night with 11 points while Kheni Briggs (Kannapolis, NC/Charleston Southern) tallied 12 points.

Trailing 30-24 at halftime, the Warriors made an early surge to open the second half behind a pair of three-point shots from Nimmers. Nimmers' gave the Warriors their first lead of the second half with a trey at the 12:34 mark for a 37-36 advantage. The home team eventually regained the lead, but Indian Hills stayed within striking distance through the late stages of the second half. Triton eventually built a double-digit lead in the closing minutes to run away with the nonconference matchup.

Defensively, the Warriors held the No. 1 three-point shooting team in the nation to just 3-22 (13.6 percent) from beyond the arc. Indian Hills also managed a 45-42 rebounding edge over the Trojans thanks to a game-high 11 boards from Chris Mpaka (Kinsasha, Congo/Frank Phillips).

The Warriors return to action Saturday night at the Hellyer Center against Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Marshalltown Community College as part of Hall of Fame Night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM with a halftime ceremony to induct the Indian Hills Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
