IHCC Lets Second-Half Lead Slip Away

Mason City, Iowa -- The Indian Hills men's soccer team overcame a slow start, took a one-goal second half lead, but couldn't hold it and lost 4-3 to NIACC in the first round of the Region 11 postseason tournament on Tuesday.

Trailing 2-0, the Warriors notched three straight goals -- two of them by Sebastian Carrion -- to go on top, 3-2, in the second half.

NIACC's Leo Driscoll tied the score with a goal with just under 20 minutes to play in the second half and Nako Omot tallied his second goal of the match minutes later to allow the Trojans to come from behind for the win.

Omot and Tim Roberts scored for NIACC in the opening six minutes of play, but the Warriors fought back. Jesse Stufflebeem got IHCC on the board, scoring off an assist from Sam Puchella. Carrion netted his first goal to tie it at 2-all. Jonathan Silva got the assist on that score. Then, Carrion poked home an unassisted goal to put the Warriors ahead.

IHCC keeper Colton Mihalovich had seven saves.

The loss ends the season for Indian Hills and prevents an opportunity for them to battle top-ranked Iowa Western in the semifinals. The Warriors finish the season with a record of 4-14.
