IHCC Men Edged by Hawkeye

Ottumwa -- A late goal by Akean Shackleford got Indian Hills to within one score of visiting Hawkeye CC, but the Warriors ran out of time in getting a potential tying goal and dropped a 3-2 decision on their home pitch on Wednesday.

A goal by Hawkeye with less than 3 minutes remaining proved to be the game-winner, giving them a 3-1 lead. Shackleford's tally with under a minute to play, off an assist by Saliou Kouyate, cut the deficit to one, but the Warriors couldn't get another scoring chance in the final seconds.

Indian Hills had scored first when Leandro Oshiro found the back of the net in the opening minutes of play. Mariano Pereira assisted on the Oshiro goal.

Hawkeye tied the score at 1-all just three minutes after the first IHCC goal and then went ahead on a penalty kick later in the first half.

The Warriors outshot the visitors, 18-6.

IHCC goalkeeper Gabriel Ivlev had two saves.

MCC-Maple Woods comes to Ottumwa on Thursday afternoon to battle the Warriors at the IHCC field as Indian Hills, now 0-2, goes for its first victory of the season.
