Battle of Rated Teams Goes to Indian Hills

IHCC at Cloud County

Concordia, Kansas -- The 11th-ranked Indian Hills Warriors got the stiff test they were looking for on Wednesday, going on the road for a battle with No. 6 Cloud County.  The Warriors' Akean Shackleford scored the only goal and IHCC prevailed, 1-0, in a game that could be reminiscent of the kind of tense matchups the Warriors get in the upcoming conference tournament.

Shackleford's goal, his 29th of the season, came in the 65th minute and it stood up thanks to a staunch defensive effort from the Warriors and goalkeeper Ross Dalton, who made four saves.  Shackleford has 63 points this year.

Indian Hills outshot Cloud County, which suffered just their second loss of the season, 19-7.  The Thunderbirds had won 12 in a row before the Warriors stopped them on their home field.  IHCC is 14-2 and continues to add to the highest win total in program history.

The lone contest remaining in the regular season for Indian Hills is this Saturday when they travel to take on Scott CC in a league game.  A win would clinch at least a share of the ICCAC regular season championship for the Warriors.
