Ottumwa -- For the first time in program history, the Indian Hills' men's soccer team will play in the championship game of the Region XI postseason tournament, with a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament on the line.  The 7th-ranked Warriors polished off Iowa Central, 5-1, on Tuesday at the IHCC field to advance to play Iowa Western on Saturday.

Gabriel Peres got the scoring started for Indian Hills, notching a goal in the 28th minute with an assist from Rodrigo Pascual.  A minute later Leandro Oshiro made it 2-0 with his goal assisted by Pascual and Craig Brand.

Reshon Phillip tallied the next IHCC goal, his 12th of the year, on a penalty kick, which he was awarded after being tackled in the box by Iowa Central goalkeeper Anthony Velez.  Velez received a red card on the play and missed the rest of the game.

After Iowa Central got its only goal of the contest to get the score to 3-1 at intermission, Akean Shackleford added to the IHCC advantage in the final half with his 31st goal of the season, assisted by Alcides Duarte and Wilson Barahona.

Tajay Reid finished off the victory with a goal in the 80th minute.  Brand got his second assist of the day on the play.

Indian Hills keeper Ross Dalton made three saves in helping the Warriors improve to 16-2.

Iowa Western blanked Marshalltown, 1-0, in the other semifinal and the Reivers and Warriors, who tied for the regular-season conference crown, will battle at 1:00 Saturday afternoon at Cownie Park in Des Moines to see who moves on to the national tourney.
