Warriors Nail Down 1st Win for Espinal

Cloud County

Ottumwa -- A pair of second-half goals allowed the Indian Hills men's soccer team to come from behind and knock off Cloud County (Kans.), 2-1, Sunday to give first-year IHCC coach Juan Espinal his initial victory at the helm.  The win came in the final match of the 2nd Annual Wells Fargo Cup, hosted by Indian Hills.

After a scoreless first half, Jean-Piere Dasylva of Cloud County broke the deadlock with an unassisted goal in the 56th minute.  About two minutes later Indian Hills' Luis Barojas got his team even with his second goal of the tourney.  Barojas then assisted on the eventual game-winning tally by Gustavo Barroso in the 67th minute.  Charles Vittini was also credited with an assist on the Barroso goal.  The Warriors and goalkeeper Matthew Desfossez made the 2-1 lead stand up the rest of the way as IHCC got a win in its third game of the season, to go along with a tie and a one-goal loss to Jefferson College two days before.

The shots for the two teams were nearly identical -- 19 for the Warriors and 18 for Cloud County.  Barroso and Barojas had four shots apiece.  Desfossez had five saves in the IHCC goal.

Indian Hills will be idle until going to Northeast (Neb.) CC to play next Saturday.  They will be at home against Scott CC on Sept. 12.
