Ottumwa -- The IHCC men's soccer team turned a halftime tie into their third straight victory to open the season, using three second-half goals to defeat Anoka-Ramsey (Minn.), 3-0, at the IHCC field on Friday.

The first half was scoreless, and the Warriors didn't get on the board until the second period was 25 minutes old.  David Medeiros's unassisted goal broke the deadlock.  Damien Baltide followed with another tally just five minutes later.  And Gustavo Barroso ended the scoring with a goal with about ten minutes left to play.  Diogo Adade assisted on Baltide's goal and Bruno Sperandio on the goal by Barroso.

Meanwhile, IHCC keeper Alan Roman got his first clean sheet of the season and his second win in goal.  The Warriors have given up only one goal in their first three contests.

Warriors' head coach Juan Espinal said from the first day of practice this fall he had a message for his team:  Stay bought into the structure, system, and, most importantly, the program as a whole.  "We have high expectations both in the classroom and on the field which molds us into a strong team," the coach said.  "It first showed during the preseason when we played William Penn, Culver-Stockton and Graceland (all NAIA four-year schools).  Going unbeaten with a draw and two wins against those sides was great for us and it gave a lot of players confidence."

Indian Hills will look to keep their record perfect when they travel to West Burlington to take on Southeastern CC on Wednesday.
