OTTUMWA, IA – Indian Hills Community College reached out to the East Coast to find its new head men’s soccer coach as the Warriors have tabbed Kevin Nuss to lead the IHCC program.  Nuss, who most recently was head coach of NJCAA Division III Camden County College in Blackwood, New Jersey, brings with him a wealth of coaching and front office experience at the professional, collegiate and club levels.

The past three seasons at Camden County, Nuss piloted the Cougars to a remarkable 41-5-2 mark, which included three trips to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament as well as three Region XIX Championships.

Nuss becomes the eighth coach to head the Warrior program in what will be its 15th season of existence this fall.  IHCC is coming off a 6-7-2 season in which the entire campaign was pushed to the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The new IHCC head man currently holds the United States Soccer Federation C coaching license and is working towards attaining B-level status.

The new Warrior head coach is looking forward to joining the successful Indian Hills Athletic Department.

“I’m excited to be joining a program with such a rich athletics tradition,” Nuss said.  “I look forward to making sure that the men’s soccer program continues to be a part of that.”

Before returning to his alma mater to take the head coaching position with Camden College in 2018, Nuss held a front office position with the Cedar Stars Academy where he was the organization’s general manager.  Prior to that he was the general manager and associate head coach of the Ocean City (NJ) Nor’easters, one of the best Premier Development League (PDL) teams in North America, as well as roles as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer programs at Brown University (Ivy League), Saint Joseph’s University (Atlantic-10) and Rutgers-Camden University.

Nuss began his college soccer playing career in 2003 with Camden Country, where he was honored as the Adidas/NSCAA First Team Regional All-American goalkeeper and was a First Team selection in both Region XIX and the Garden State Athletic Conference.  He then transferred to William Paterson University (NCAA D-III) where he was the starting goalkeeper from 2004-05. He finished his time at WPU ranked fourth in program history in saves, and his seven shutouts during the 2005 season is the fourth-most in program history. Nuss finished his college career at Rowan University (NCAA D-III) where he won the starting goalkeeper job throughout the 2007 season.

“It was an incredibly difficult decision to step away from Camden County College,” Nuss added.  “It has been a major part of my life since I first stepped on campus as a student back in 2003. I wish everyone, players and staff, the best of luck. I will remain a huge supporter of the program.”

IHCC Athletics Director and Vice President of Student Development and Operations, Brett Monaghan, is pleased that the college was able to add Nuss to the group of Warrior coaches.

“I’m excited to welcome Kevin to the Indian Hills Athletic Department.  In Kevin, we are getting an individual who is a proven winner at the NJCAA level and has a plethora of experience all across collegiate soccer,” said Indian Hills Athletic Director, Brett Monaghan.  “He is a next-level recruiter that I believe will identify high quality student-athletes to bring to Indian Hills to compete for our men’s soccer program, but more importantly, represent the athletic department and college to the standards we have set and expect of these individuals.  I believe Kevin will lead our men’s soccer program in a championship direction and I can’t wait to see the results this fall.”
