WARRIORS SUFFER FIRST LOSS

Hillsboro, MO – The Indian Hills Men's Soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Sunday, falling 2-1 to Jefferson College (MO) on the road. The Warriors fall to 0-1-1 on the young season.

One day removed from a double-overtime draw vs. East Central College (MO), the Warriors posted their second consecutive first half shutout with Matteo Scarduzio (San Secondo Parmense, Italy/Fabio Bocchialini) in net as both sides play to a 0-0 score through 45 minutes. As did East Central on Saturday, Jefferson came out firing to open the second half on Sunday and built a 2-0 lead to force the Warriors into action.

A late score from sophomore Shogo Koike (Taishi, Japan/Taishi) off a corner kick from Sebastian Hererra Ruiz (Chillan, Chile/Centro de Estudios La Araucana) in the 85th minute ignited the Warrior offense, but with time running out, the Warriors second consecutive attempt at a two-goal rally fell short.

Scarduzzio tallied two saves on the day in the loss.

Next up for the Warriors is the Indian Hills Classic August 27-29 at Schafer Stadium in Ottumwa. Indian Hills plays host to Bryant & Stratton College (WI) on Friday at 12:00 PM and John Wood Community College at 3:00 PM on Sunday. The three-team tournament is in unison with the Indian Hills Women's Soccer team hosting a three-team tournament as well.
