WARRIORS, BLACKHAWKS DRAW 2-2

Burlington, IA – A thrilling finish culminated in a 2-2 draw for the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team as the Warriors tied Southeastern Community College in a cross-division matchup. Indian Hills moves to 2-1-2 overall on the year.

An early goal from Kento Tani (Tachigi, Japan/Nihon University Sano), assisted by Fabio Lozano (Modelia, Colombia/Formarte) gave the Warriors a lead in the 22nd minute, an advantage that held until the 70th minute. The Blackhawks netted the equalizer and just four minutes later connected on a second goal to take a 2-1 lead. With just minutes to play, Denis German Barcojo (Buenos Aires, Argentina / Comercial N 41) found Mateo Chavarriaga in the 85th minute to once again tie the match.

Freshman Matteo Scarduzio (San Secondo Parmense, Italy/Fabio Bocchialini) was sensational in net in the closing minutes of regulation and both overtime sessions for the Warriors. Scarduzio stopped a free kick to end regulation and added three impressive saves to preserve the draw with the defending National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII National Championships.

The goal for Tani was his third of the regular season while Chavarriaga notched his first-career goal for the Warriors.

The Warriors and Blackhawks have now tied in each of their last three meetings.

Indian Hills is back in action at 3:00 PM on Saturday vs. NIACC at Schafer Stadium.
