MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO HAWKEYE

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Soccer team suffered just its second loss of the season on Wednesday night, a 3-1 loss to visiting Hawkeye Community College. The Warriors fall to 5-2-2 on the year.

The Warriors struck first in the 10th minute as Ronaldo Carvalho (Orlando, FL/Carlucci American International School of Lisbon) recorded a goal for the second consecutive game. Carvalho received a pass from freshman Kento Tani (Tachigi, Japan/Nihon University Sano) to give Indian Hills the initial lead.

The offense continued to push for the Warriors throughout the first half, but a late counter attack from the Redtails led to two goals right before halftime. Hawkeye received a goal at the 41:04 mark and the 44:36 mark of the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Both sides traded opportunities in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Redtails broke through with a goal in the 69th minute to take a 3-1 lead, an advantage they never relinquished. Tbo Sotoyinbo was credited with all three goals for the Hawkeyes.

Freshman Matteo Scarduzio (San Secondo Parmense, Italy/Fabio Bocchialini) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Warriors and stopped a career-high five shots in the loss.

Indian Hills will host Iowa Lakes at 3:00 PM on Saturday at Schafer Stadium in Ottumwa. The Lakers are currently ranked No. 4 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer rankings.
