WARRIORS HOLD THEIR OWN WITH NO. 2 REIVERS

Ottumwa, IA – For 79 minutes, the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team held the second-ranked team in the nation scoreless. A pair of late goals eventually led to the Warriors falling at home to Iowa Western Community College, 2-0 on Saturday.

With the loss, the Warriors fall to 5-5-2 overall and 0-2-1 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play. The Reivers, who have allowed just one goal all season, remain unbeaten at 7-0-0 and 2-0-0 in ICCAC action.

Taking on the team's third consecutive nationally ranked opponent, the Warriors hung with the No. 2 Reivers throughout a majority of the match. While the Reivers controlled the offensive tempo of the match, the Warrior defense held its ground, anchored by keeper Matteo Scarduzio (San Secondo Parmense, Italy/Fabio Bocchialini).

The Reivers finally broke free in the 80th minute with a goal off of a cross from the left side. Iowa Western responded less than one minute later to double its lead with under 10 minutes to go.

The Warrior scoring chances were limited on Saturday despite the stellar play from the defensive backline. The Reivers outshot Indian Hills 22-1 and held a 16-0 advantage on corner kicks.

The Warriors host Iowa Central Community College at 3:00 PM Saturday, Oct. 2 at Schafer Stadium.
