Indian Hills Gets First Indoor Win

Waverly, Iowa -- The Indian Hills men's track and field team on Saturday claimed the program's first-ever first-place finish, winning the Chelsey M. Henkenius Open at Wartburg College.  The Warriors totaled 130 points, outdistancing 11 other schools, including the host Wartburg Knights.

IHCC earned five first-place finishes, five seconds and three thirds and had the meet's outstanding male performer, Joshua Raphael, who won both the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes.

One IHCC record fell in the 200 meters where Raphael (22.44), Brieon Randle (22.55) and Jovan Parks (22.56) came in 1-2-3, each of them besting the previous mark of 22.83.  Chris Kubli set a new Indian Hills standard in the 800 meters (1:57.78), his third-place finish not only establishing the school record but also qualifying him for the national indoor meet in Texas.

Brieon Randle won the 400 meters in 50.33.

Colton Lanman and Dion Ryan each jumped 6'7" in the high jump to tie the indoor school mark, Lanman winning the event on fewer misses.

Raykwon McClenny's second-place effort in the 60 meter hurdles (8.38) qualified him for the national meet.

The other first-place for Indian Hills was turned in by Nathan Winters, who captured the shot put with a toss of 51'9".

Bernard McCann III was 2nd in the 60 meters (7.09), Jovan Parks was 2nd in the 400 meters (50.68) and Jeremy Leath was 4th (52.06), and Javaris Logan picked up a third-place in the triple jump (39'1").

Other top-ten results for Indian Hills came from McClenny who was 5th (22.85) and Dave Hundley Jr. 6th (23.07) in the 200 meters (IHCC had five of the top six in the event), Garret Hinson 8th (4:43.08) in the mile run, McCann III 4th (21'3.5") in the long jump, and Damond Anderson 8th (6'1.25") in the high jump.  The Warriors 4x400 meter relay unit of McClenny, Leath, Anderson and Hundley Jr. ran 3:29.92 for 6th place. 

Indian Hills returns to action at the Jack Jennett Open at the University of Northern Iowa on Friday.
