Indian Hills Has Three National Qualifiers at Kansas Meet

Pittsburg, Kansas -- IHCC athletes established three new school records and three individuals qualified for next month's indoor national meet in the 3rd Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University.

Claiming spots in the field for next month's national meet were Brieon Randle, who ran 49.96 in the 400 meters, and Raykwon McClenny and Jovan Parks, both in the 200 meters.  McClenny finished 20th in 21.91 and Randle ran 21.98 and came in 23rd.

The Warriors' 4x400 relay unit of Randle, Jeremy Leath, McClenny and Parks finished in 3:19.53 to set a new IHCC record in that event.  They were in 21st place in the meet which attracted a total of 69 men's and women's teams, the majority of them four-year schools.

The best finish for Indian Hills was turned in by Dion Ryan, who went 6'-5" in the open high jump competition, good for 5th place.

Colton Lanman was 11th in the high jump invite, going 6'-5.5".

Nathan Winters' 50'-2" toss in the shot put was good for 16th place.

Joshua Raphael (22.34) and Dave Hundley Jr. (22.74) also placed in the 200 meters, after McClenny and Parks.

Chris Kubli ran the 800 meters in 2:03.61 and Parks raced to a time of 50.69 in the 400 meters.

Indian Hills had five runners compete in the 60 meter dash: Raphael (6.94), McClenny (7.00), Bernard McCann III (7.05), Montray Chambers (7.20) and Hundley (7.32). 

A second 4x400 relay team made up of McCann, Hundley, Damond Anderson and Kubli finished in 3:23.75.

Indian Hills will compete in the Region XI Championships at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake Feb. 16-17.
