Indianola, Iowa-- The men's track and field team competed in their final two regular season meets Thursday, April 26th and Friday, April 27th. Entering the weekend, the Warriors remained in the USTFCCCA Top 25 National Poll for the fourth consecutive week, coming in at 24th. The squad competed at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College on Thursday and Friday, while the 4x100m relay team took to the Blue Oval Friday morning to compete at the Drake Relays.

Throwing events only were contested on Thursday at the Kip Janvrin Open. Three time All-American, Nathan Winters, placed second in the shot put (16.71m) in a field that included six NCAA Division I athletes. Winters also competed in the discus, finishing 6th with a toss of 45.90m. Winters will now enter his final post season as a Warrior. The Knoxville, Iowa native has already qualified in the shot put and discus for the 2018 NJCAA Outdoor National Championships hosted by Butler Community College in May.

It was an early start for the men's 4x100m squad that competed at the Drake Relays at 9:33 a.m. Friday morning. The quartet of Bernard McCann III, Brieon Randle, Joshua Raphael and Deterio Newman broke the previous school record by over a half second, running 42.02, just .10 seconds from the national qualifying mark in their first 4x100m relay of the season. The relay placed 10th of 33 teams in the prelims. Following the relay, all four athletes made the short drive to Indianola to compete in the Kip Janvrin Open.
