Storm Lake, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad is set to take on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend with action getting underway from Buena Vista University on Friday.

MEN'S NOTES

The No. 1 ranked team in the nation sets its sights on a Region title as the Warriors head to Storm Lake

  • The Warriors have been ranked No. 1 in the national USTFCCCA poll for four consecutive weeks now heading into the Region championship.
  • 33 athletes are set to compete over the weekend for the Warrior men, eyeing individual titles along the way.
  • The Warriors own the conference's top mark in 11 of the 20 events this weekend, including all three mid-distance events.
  • Keveroy Venson, the nation's top 1,000-meter runner and school record holder in the mile is set to compete in both events.
  • Triston Miller, the nation's top 60-meter hurdler will compete in three events - 60mH, high jump, and long jump.
  • The duo of Troy Johnson and Anthony Ward lead the Warrior jumpers as Johnson owns the top mark in the long jump and Ward boasts the top triple jump mark.
  • The Warrior men have placed third at the Region championships in each of the last five seasons, posting a program-best 140 points in 2022.
  • Iowa Central has claimed 12 of the last 13 Region titles with Iowa Western winning the 2022 championship.

WOMEN'S NOTES

Ranked No. 10 in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, the Warriors head into the Region championship having been ranked inside the top-10 all season long.

  • Arriana Johnson will lead the Warriors in the multis throughout the weekend as the No. 12 ranked individual in the nation will compete in the Pentathlon.
  • The Warriors will look to make a splash in the women's 60-meter dash as three individuals - Kenyatta Grate, Zekira Snow, and Shanice Cox boast PR's of 7.66 this year, the second-best mark heading into the weekend. Prelims for the 60m get underway Friday night.
  • Shanice Cox and Nyla Norman headline a loaded heat on Friday night in the women's 200-meter dash. The duo head into the weekend with marks of 24.46 and 24.65, respectively, both top-three in the ICCAC.
  • Selket Reid-El and Amaree Hamilton will lead the Warriors in the 800-meter and 1,000-meter events. The duo ranks first and second, respectively, among participants in this weekend's field.
  • Dymonde Nave will take on the 60-meter hurdles in the prelims Friday night. Nave opens the weekend with the top mark in the ICCAC at 8.79, ranked fifth nationally.
  • The Warriors' best finish at the NJCAA Region 11 Indoor Championship is third, occurring in both 2021 and 2022.
