IHCC 5th in First Fall Meet

Sports shooting Team lined up to shoot

Burlington, Iowa -- In the first official competition for the Indian Hills sports shooting team, the IHCC squad was 5th in the Southeastern Blackhawk Invitational on Saturday.  Case Scieszinski led Indian Hills with a 13th place finish, posting a score of 95 out of 100.

"I was very happy with the way our first competition of the fall went," said IHCC coach Jake Stalzer.  "We have some great kids this year and it appears the conference is pretty even talent-wise since only 10 birds separated 2nd through 6th place.  It should make for some fun competition this fall!  The other impressive thing about this meet is that we improved our overall team score by 20 shots from any of our competitions last spring."

Indian Hills' Aaron Reuss came in four spots after Scieszinski and IHCC's Brett Nace was right behind Reuss, in 18th place.  Ten Indian Hills shooters took part in the meet which was won by Iowa Central.  The Tritons were first by a healthy margin over runnerup Simpson College, 492-473.  Indian Hills was just one bird behind Hawkeye and five in back of Southeastern.

"Our next shoot is Sept. 30 at the Ottumwa Izaak Walton League, the inaugural Indian Hills Invitational," Stalzer said.  "We start shooting at 9:30 a.m."
