Coach Jake Stalzer and Tristan Schaefer

Ottumwa -- In what coach Jake Stalzer termed "a great success," the Indian Hills sports shooting team finished 4th Saturday in the first meet the college has hosted in it's initial season of competition.  The 1st annual Indian Hills Invitational brought together eight teams for the event at the Izaak Walton League in Ottumwa. and IHCC had the individual champion.

IHCC's Tristan Schaefer came in 1st overall with his score of 99/100 in the meet in which 91 shooters competed.  Schaefer's "Top Gun" status was the highlight of the meet for the host school.

Case Scieszinski provided a 16th place finish for IHCC with a 95 and Aaron Reuss was 21st with 94.  Brett Nace was 29th and Kurtis Doty 33rd.

Stalzer said he was excited with how the day went.  "Our overall team score improved by seven shots from our last competition at Southeastern," Stalzer said.  "A big thanks to the Ottumwa Izaak Walton League for allowing us to host the shoot at their facility, also to the IHCC golf team for helping out with scoring and filling the trap machines with clays throughout the day."

Iowa Central won the team title by four shots over Hawkeye CC.  Southeastern was 3rd, a single shot in front of Indian Hills.

It will be a busy week for the Indian Hills squad, as they head to Indianola for a dual against Grand View on Wednesday, then go to the Southwestern Invitational in Ackley this Saturday.
