IHCC Ends Fall Campaign With a 2nd Place

Grand View Invite

Indianola, Iowa -- In what coach Jake Stalzer described as "a great day for the IHCC sports shooting team," the Indian Hills squad captured 2nd place in the Grand View Invitational at the Warren County Izaak Walton League facility on Saturday.

It was the final competition of the fall campaign for Indian Hills, bringing to an end the first season in program history.

Andy McMullin paced the Indian Hills team with a 70/75 for the men's individual 2nd place medal.  McMullin was followed by Aaron Reuss, who took home the 4th place medal with a 69/75.  Next were Tristan Schaefer with a 66 and Brett Nace with a 64.  Rounding out the top five was Macey Romanco, who was just two birds shy of getting a ladies' individual medal with a 63.

After the shooters were finished with their three rounds of 25 each, the top five shooters from each team had a pro shoot-off where they shot at targets from different angles for varying point amounts.  Each shooter got two shots, one from the regular trap, and then they got to choose either a 3-point or 5-point shot.  Indian Hills fared well in the shoot-off, adding 37 points onto the original score of 332 before the shoot-off.  That left IHCC in 2nd place behind the host school, Grand View.

"I am proud of the team for their performance," said coach Jake Stalzer, "and we are already looking forward to our spring season getting underway in March."

Stalzer and team members have been selling raffle tickets all fall for a Winchester SX3 rifle.  Jason Stablum of Norwalk was the lucky winner of the rifle, his ticket drawn from all the ones entered in what was a fundraiser for the IHCC team.
