Cedar Falls, Iowa -- Battling some winter-like conditions the Indian Hills sports shooting team still managed to grab a second-place finish in the Hawkeye Redtails Invitational at the Cedar Falls Gun Club.
Indian Hills took 11 individuals to the meet and the first group of five came in second behind Southeastern, trailing the Blackhawks by 30 targets. Andy McMullin led that IHCC team with a score of 93, three ahead of teammates Aaron Reuss and Kurtis Doty.
Macey Romanco and Tori Ward placed second and third, respectively, in the ladies competition.
"The weather was bad enough," said IHCC coach Jake Stalzer, "that Iowa Central and Southwestern decided not to make the trip. I'm extremely proud of all our student-athletes for persevering through the cold, wind and rain/sleet."
Stalzer's squad will travel to Ackley for the SCTP Iowa Collegiate State Championships on Apr. 28. Competition will be at the Stockdale Gun Club in Ackley.
