Ackley, Iowa -- The Indian Hills sports shooting team took part in the Iowa State Collegiate Trap Tournament (SCTP) over the weekend and even though the squad didn't perform as well as they would have liked, according to coach Jake Stalzer, they still brought home trophies and medals from the competition.
IHCC captured a 4th place finish for the day with a score of 896 out of 1000. However, they finished with the 3rd place trophy for overall season performance with a score of 2283 out of 2500. They also claimed the 2nd place trophy for HOA in the eLeague competition which consisted of handicap trap, skeet and trap doubles.
Luke Schlesselman, Jason Herr and Colton Selvy were the top shooters in the eLeague with Schlesselman earning a 1st place individual medal in doubles and a 2nd place medal in skeet. Herr had a 3rd place finish in doubles and earned a 1st place medal in skeet. Selvy got a 2nd place in doubles and rounded out the top three in skeet with a 3rd place. Macey Romanco also earned a 2nd place medal for the ladies individual doubles.
"It was a great spring season for us," said Stalzer, "and the future looks bright for the program. We plan to compete in the state skeet and sporting clays events during the month of June."
