Afton, Iowa -- The Indian Hills sports shooting team began its fall conference schedule with a non-divisional dual against Southwestern at the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance on Saturday.

IHCC freshman Andrew Appleget had the team's high score for the day, hitting 95 out of 100 targets.  That tied him for second place in the men's division, but he lost a shoot-off against SWCC's Morgan Pierce and finished third.  Freshman Katelyn Talbert and sophomore Mickayla McCarty also had a shoot-off to settle second place in the ladies' division with Talbert coming out on top.

The Indian Hills team score of 458 was the same as in their first meet of the fall, against Grand View last Wednesday.  Southwestern edged them by eight targets with a 466.

After Appleget's score of 95, Ryan Beitz posted a 94, Aaron Vos had a 91, Harley Saulmon a 90 and Carson Boyse an 88.

"Three different individuals counted toward our team score that weren't in the top five against Grand View," said IHCC coach Jake Stalzer, "which shows we have many team members who can contribute.  Our top ten are all capable of putting up 95-plus scores.  We just need to have them all be on their game and firing at the same time."

Stalzer's squad will take on Northeast Iowa CC this Saturday, Sept. 28, starting at 11:00 in the first conference divisional shoot.
