Indian Hills Travels to Ohio for National Meet

Nationals

Marengo, Ohio -- In a unique competition, the Indian Hills sports shooting team competed in the SCTP Collegiate Nationals over the weekend.  Ten IHCC shooters took part in the event in which they had to shoot trap, skeet and sporting clay targets.

IHCC coach Jake Stalzer said, "It consisted of 200 trap, 200 skeet and 200 sporting clay targets.  So, over the course of the weekend our student-athletes shot a total of 4,800 targets.  There were 27 teams and 252 shooters, so it was a huge event."

Shayla Rotenburger led IHCC in the trap part of the competition, Alan Carmichael topped the Indian Hills participants in skeet, and Aaron Vos was first in the sporting clays.  "There were four divisions and we competed in Division IV, which was for the community colleges," said Stalzer.  "We were runners-up in that division for high overall (HOA) with a score of 2,366 which is the trap, skeet and sporting clays scores combined.  Our scores were 914 for trap, 821 for skeet and 631 for sporting clays."

"The team had a blast and it was good to see them fare well, too," Stalzer said.
