IHCC SHOOTERS GET IN WIN COLUMN

OTTUMWA – The Indian Hills sports shooting squad put one in the winner's circle this last week as they topped Northeast Iowa Community College, 461-439.

Each team scored their tallies virtually, competing on their own home course during the week.  The ICCAC compiled the resulting scores and coach Jake Stalzer's IHCC shooters took the 22-point victory.

Stalzer had remarked after his squad's season-opening defeat to Southwestern that his leaders would have to get their scores into the 90s if they were going to be able to compete, and that's exactly what he got this go-around as IHCC's scorers were all in the 90s.

Freshman Charles Gibson (Moulton, IA) led Indian Hills with a 94, while a pair of sophomores were right behind in Dylan Marlay (Ottumwa, IA) and Aaron Vos (Oskaloosa, IA) with scores of 93 and 92, respectively.

Grinnell native, Trent Rasmussen and Kalona's Carson Boyse rounded out the IHCC scorers, each with a tally of 91.

Northeast Iowa's Kaylie Klimish led all shooters with a score of 97-of-100 birds.

The victory moves Indian Hills to 1-1 in the ICCAC East Division Standings, which is good enough for third place currently behind Hawkeye (3-0) and Southeastern (2-1).  Northeast Iowa Falls to 1-2 and sits in fourth place.

Next up for IHCC is an interdivision battle with Iowa Western (2-1, 3rd place West Division).
