OSKALOOSA, IA – Indian Hills Sports Shooting made the short trek up Highway 63 to Oskaloosa's Mahaska County Izaak Walton League last Saturday to take part in the Iowa SCTP Collegiate State Skeet & Sporting Clays Championships.  Despite windy and wet conditions, the Warriors managed to take home sixth place overall in a field that included eleven schools.  IHCC finished third among two-year schools.

"It was less than ideal conditions to be outside in," remarked IHCC Head Coach Jake Stalzer.  "The Warrior shooters persevered through it the best they could."

Drew Appleget led the sporting squad on a challenging course with a score of 65.  Alan Carmichael was next with a 59, and Charles Gibson wrapped up the Warriors' top three finishers with a score of 53.

On the skeet side, Aaron Vos paced IHCC with a high score of 94.  Josh Meyer was next with an 89, and Appleget rounded out our top three with an 88.

"The team results were made up of each team's top three scores," Stalzer explained.  "All scores were very close with only a handful of targets separating each team."

Indian Hills will wrap up its spring 2021 season this coming weekend at the Stockdale Gun Club in Ackley, Iowa for the Iowa SCTP Collegiate State Trap Championships. The Warriors are slated to start shooting at 11:00a.m.
