Murphy, Mandi Moore Earn Honors

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills sophomore pitcher Mandi Moore and freshman shortstop Abbey Murphy picked up recognition in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 27 - May 3.

Moore was named the conference Division I Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row. The latest designation came after the right-hander went 2-2 for the week in 32 innings pitched. Both wins came in the postseason -- the title-clinching decision in the Region 11 tournament finale against Iowa Western and the other victory in the Warriors' district tourney opener against Jefferson College. Moore finished her sophomore campaign with a 15-9 record and 2.81 ERA in a team-high 154 2/3 innings pitched. She had 145 strikeouts.

Murphy capped a solid freshman campaign with the conference DI Batter of the Week award. For the week, she reached base 13 times in 22 at-bats, with a homer, six runs and five RBIs. Murphy hit .368 for the spring with team highs in at-bats (155), hits (57) and stolen bases (she was a perfect 16-for-16). She slugged nine homers and drove in 39 runs.
