Ottumwa --- Kacey Duffield, an Indian Hills freshman from Fairbanks, Alaska, has been named a softball All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Duffield was selected as a utility player on the NFCA All-American second team for two-year schools after a standout season in which she paced the Warriors or tied for the team high in nine different statistical categories and also fashioned an unbeaten pitching record.

Duffield hit a team-best .420 in 45 games and topped IHCC in RBIs (55), slugging percentage (.786), walks (28) and on-base percentage (.534) while tying for the team lead with 12 home runs. Her 12 doubles equaled her homer total and she scored 42 runs.

As a pitcher, Duffield had a 2.27 ERA to go along with an undefeated 6-0 record. In 37 innings pitched, she allowed only 12 earned runs and tossed five complete games and one shutout for the Region 11 champion Warriors

Duffield is the 32nd softball All-American in Indian Hills history and the second from this year's 33-13 squad. Teammate Lindsay Moore earlier was named a National Junior College Athletic Association second-team All-American.
