Fifteen Softball Players Earn Academic Honors

Ottumwa -- Fifteen members of the national tournament-qualifying Indian Hills softball team earned Spring Academic All-Region honors announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

To be eligible for one of the academic awards, a student-athlete must have a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 for the first team, and a grade point average between 3.0 and 3.49 for the second team.

A dozen of the softball players were on the academic first team.  They are sophomores Courtnee HahnKassidi HendersonKeagan HelsonMarissa Promes, and Shyanne DuBois, along with freshmen Abby StraightAlexis VroeghAmber HallCheyanne BergertOlivia GoodaleTaylor Jones, and Taylor Takushi.  On the second team are soph Sierra Walton and freshmen Erin Kuba and Kelsey Carder.

The Warrior softball squad is poised to make it 18 years in a row in which it has been named a national all-academic team.

In all, 82 IHCC student-athletes whose teams played during the spring term achieved academic all-region recognition.
