IHCC Sweeps Grayson

Grayson

Denison, Texas -- Indian Hills made it six victories in seven games to begin the season when the Warriors took both games of a doubleheader with Grayson College, winning 2-1 and 7-3 on Sunday.

In the first game, Grayson broke on top with a run against IHCC pitcher Abby Straight in the 3rd inning.  But Straight helped the comeback with a home run to account for one run and scored on an RBI by Vanessa Bakley for the other score.  Meanwhile, she allowed just two hits and struck out five in picking up her second win of the season-opening trip.  The IHCC hits came from Taylor Takushi, Taylor Jones, Straight, Lexi Smith, Bakley and Taylor DuBois.

Game two was knotted at 1-1 when Indian Hills erupted for three runs in the 5th, another one in the 6th and two more in the 7th.  Olivia Goodale was sharp in notching her second pitching victory, scattering six hits and two earned runs with four Ks and three walks.  Seven different players scored a run and Smith had two doubles among her three hits and Bakley also doubled twice.  Takushi drove in a pair of runs and DuBois swiped two bases.

The Warriors headed for Oklahoma after the sweep.  They will take on Rose State in a twinbill on Monday afternoon.
