Indian Hills Edged by Butler

SB vs. Butler

El Dorado, Kansas -- Indian Hills squared off against two-time defending national champion Butler (Kans.) Community College on Friday and the Warriors dropped a pair of games, 9-6 and 6-4.

The Warriors' 7th-inning rally in the opener fell short.  They scored four times in the final inning.  Erin Kuba slammed a pair of homers for IHCC and Lexi Smith also went deep.  Kuba knocked in four runs.

Olivia Goodale started in the circle and took the loss.  Carlyn Stanley struck out five in four innings of relief.

Helaina Johnson had three RBIs in the second game -- a two-run single in the 4th and an RBI single in the 6th.  Her second single tied the score at 4-4 before Abi Cole of Butler broke the deadlock with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 6th.  IHCC had nine hits, including two each by Kuba, Johnson and Vanessa Bakley.

Abby Straight pitched a complete game for Indian Hills.

The Warriors continue their road trip with four games in the Crowder Bash over the weekend.
