Winning Streak at 8 for IHCC Softball

Groet

Marshalltown, Iowa -- A no-hitter by Alexis Groet and five second-game home runs led Indian Hills to a ICCAC sweep of Marshalltown on Friday, the Warriors winning, 8-0 and 16-7.

Only a first-inning walk kept Groet from firing a perfect game as IHCC rolled in game one.  The freshman struck out nine in the six-inning opener and got offensive support from Brooke Snider, Macey Harrington, Taylor Spreckelmeyer and Lyla Kriegel, who all had two hits.  Harrington hammered her 12th homer of the season in the first inning; Snider had a double and knocked in three runs; Spreckelmeyer scored twice and Kriegel once while Alexis Westercamp had a two-RBI game.  The Warriors scored three times in each of the first two innings.

Indian Hills trailed 7-6 heading into the 6th inning of the nightcap, then took the lead on Snider's two-run home run and tacked on five more runs in the frame.  Jaylie Reints also homered in the big inning and she and Snider each went deep twice in the contest.  IHCC had 15 hits, five of which left the park.

The wins lift the current winning streak to eight and put the season mark at 17-14 and conference record at 4-0 going into a Sunday twinbill at Iowa Western.
