SHEETS, FULK SWEEP WEEKLY ICCAC HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Softball team swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week awards as sophomore Eva Fulk (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) and freshman Ashlynn Sheets (__) were recognized by the confere, nce office.

The duo helped lead the Warriors to three wins at the IWCC Round Robin in Council Bluffs over the weekend. For their efforts, Fulk was named the ICCAC Player Athlete of the Week while Sheets was tapped as the ICCAC Pitcher of the Week. The honors are the first career weekly awards for each individual.

Fulk starred at the plate and in the outfield for the Warriors to help the Warriors close out the weekend with three consecutive wins. The sophomore posted a .636 batting average to go along with a .625 on-base percentage. Fulk tallied five RBI and five runs scored across four games last week.

The sophomore tallied three multi-hit games over the weekend, including a 3-3 effort in a 14-4 victory in the round robin finale on Saturday against North Iowa Area Community College. Fulk posted a career-high four runs scored against the Trojans. In the weekend opener, also against NIACC, Fulk recorded a career-high three RBI, including a late two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning.

On the year, Fulk ranks second on the team with a .420 batting average and leads the team with 15 runs scored.

Sheets continued her stellar start to her freshman campaign as the lefty picked up two wins in the circle for the Warriors. The freshman worked 10.0 innings to help the Warriors close out the weekend with the three consecutive victories.

In the nightcap of Friday's twinbill against Hutchinson Community College (KS), Sheets struck out four batters and scattered six hits while allowing just one earned run in four innings as Indian Hills took a 7-2 victory. Sheets followed up with a complete game effort, her third of the year, in a 14-4 win over NIACC in the weekend finale. Sheets allowed just one earned run with another four punchouts to boast.

The freshman has jumped out to a 4-2 start on the year for the Warriors and owns a 1.49 earned run average.

As a team, the Warriors have now collected three consecutive ICCAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Warriors are back in action Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS. Action gets underway at 1:00 PM.
