IHCC Nipped by Iowa Western

IHCC-Iowa Western Soccer

Ottumwa -- Iowa Western used a second-half goal from Paige Moser to hand Indian Hills its first loss of the season Wednesday.  Moser's score in the 57th minute was the difference as the Reivers won the conference battle, 2-1, in the only regular season meeting between the two rivals.

Laura Hallissey's unassisted goal, her 7th of the season, in the 11th minute of play opened the scoring and gave Indian Hills an early lead.  Iowa Western tied the score at one near the end of the first half when Veronica Herrera beat IHCC keeper Emily Sands with a header off a corner kick by Clair Groves.

After Moser put the Reivers on top, Indian Hills missed an opportunity to tie the match when Charlyann Pizzarello's penalty kick sailed over the top of the goal.

Iowa Western outshot the Warriors, 25-8, and Sands was forced to make 12 saves in the IHCC net, compared to just three stops for IWCC's Mandy Clark.

The Warriors, now 4-1-1, head to Minnesota to take on Dakota County this Saturday, then return home to face State Fair CC on Sept. 27.
