Hallissey, Hiatt, Finneran Lead Soccer All-Conference Picks

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills had a trio of sophomores -- forward Laura Hallissey, midfielder Taylor Hiatt, and defender Ellie Finneran -- named to the ICCAC All-Conference women's soccer first team, with Hallissey capping her sophomore season by being named the co-player of the year in the league.

In addition, Indian Hills placed midfielders Allie Schaefer and Charlyann Pizzarello and defender Ellie Priest on the All-ICCAC second team, and forward Megan McElmeel and goalkeeper Emily Sands on the all-conference honorable mention list.

Of the eight Warriors who made the all-league squads, Pizzarello is the only freshman.

Hallissey (Waterford, Ireland) led the Warriors in goals with 14, points with 33, and shots with 50.  Four times she had two goals in a game.  Hallissey's goals and points were both fifth-best in the conference.

Hiatt (Waterloo, Iowa) paced Indian Hills with nine assists and she added four goals.  Her assist total was fourth in the league.

Finneran (Essex, England) was a two-year starter and a key figure in the IHCC defense which gave up just 1.25 goals per game.  She recorded three assists on the year.

Schaefer (Hudson, Iowa) had a pair of goals and three assists while starting all 16 IHCC games.

Pizzarello (Gibraltar) scored five goals this season and three of them were game-winners, including an overtime goal to beat Dodge City.  She added five assists and was second on the team in shots on goal with 19.

Priest (Victoria, Australia), another two-year starter on the backline, had two goals and seven assists.  Her assist total was second on the Warriors.

McElmeel (Waterloo, Iowa) is an all-conference selection for the second straight year.  She was on the first team as a freshman.  This year, she was third on the squad with eight goals and assisted on three others, and McElmeel wound up with 24 goals in her Indian Hills career.

Sands (Waverly, Iowa) enjoyed an outstanding season as the IHCC keeper.  She posted four shutouts and had a goals-against average of 1.21.
