IHCC Rallies Past Highland

Ottumwa -- Trailing two sets to none and in danger of a rare home loss, 7th-ranked Indian Hills came back to defeat Highland (Kans.) CC in five sets in an inter-region matchup at the Hellyer Center on Wednesday night.  Not only did the Warriors drop the opening two sets, but they also were behind in each of the next three sets, before coming back to prevail in all three.

In upping their record to 4-2 Indian Hills showed a resiliency that should pay dividends in the future.  It was their second 3-2 win already this season.

IHCC took a 14-8 lead in the first set, only to see Highland run off 10 straight points.  The set was tied at 21-all before the Scotties pulled it out, 27-25.

Highland won the second set 25-22 and had the Warriors on the ropes in set three until Indian Hills put together a rally that resulted in a 25-19 win.

Again, the Warriors were down in the next set, 18-17, but used a 7-2 run to stay alive, winning 25-21 to force a deciding fifth set.

In that set, Yasmin Assis had two big service aces to give IHCC a 12-10 lead and a Jessica Da Silva winner completed the comeback, the Warriors taking the set 15-13.

Indian Hills will be on the road this weekend at a tournament hosted by Barton CC in Kansas.  The Warriors will face Lamar (Colo.), Casper (Wyo.), Western Nebraska and Trinidad State (Colo.) in the two-day tourney.
