Indian Hills Falls to No. 2 Iowa Western

Ottumwa -- Iowa Western, ranked second in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, overcame an early one-set deficit and defeated No. 6 Indian Hills on the Warriors' home court Wednesday night.  Indian Hills took the back-and-forth opening set, 25-20, before the Reivers reeled off set wins of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-18 to claim the first matchup of the season between the region rivals.

Iowa Western dropped the first set and was in danger of going down 2-0 before Caitlyn Cooper helped rescue the Reivers.  They rallied to win the set to square the match, coming from down 22-21.  Indian Hills, trying to stay alive, earned a 12-11 advantage in the fourth set before Iowa Western reeled off six consecutive points and went on to complete the victory.

Cooper had 19 kills to pace IWCC at the net.

The Warriors had their winning streak of eight in a row snapped and their season record is 11-2.  Iowa Western is unbeaten at 11-0.  The teams will meet again in the regular season, at Council Bluffs on Oct. 10.  IHCC will play two matches in Vincennes, Ind. on Saturday.
