IHCC Takes Three at DMACC

Boone, Iowa -- Indian Hills took three of four matches at the DMACC Invitational, a performance that included a 3-2 win against MCC-Longview to close out the tourney.

The Warriors opened, on Friday, with a 3-1 decision against Neosho (Kans.), winning the final three sets 25-19, 05-21, 25-20 after dropping the opening set, 25-15.  Then they swept Waubonsee (Ill.) 25-19, 25-15, 25-21.  Saturday's action began with a 3-1 loss to Parkland (Ill.), 25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 25-25, before IHCC pulled out a 3-2 match with MCC-Longview, 25-19, 25-17, 26-28, 12-25, 15-9.  That was Indian Hills' 9th five-set match of the season.  They are 6-3 in matches that have gone the distance.

Jessica Da Silva had a good tournament at the net, leading IHCC in kills against Neosho (17), Waubonsee (10) and Parkland (14).  She had 16 kills against MCC-Longview, two fewer than teammate Camila Nicoletti

IHCC setter Laisa Telles Maeda totaled 179 assists, with a high of 54 in the MCC-Longview match.

Cecilia Campos was one of three IHCC players with double-figure kills totals against Neosho.  Da Silva had 17, Nicoletti 14 and Campos 12.  She also had five blocks vs. Waubonsee and Parkland.  Thayna Birimba was credited with 13 digs against Waubonsee, 17 in the Parkland match and 10 more in the final match, when she also had two ace serves.  Against MCC-Longview, Mackenzie Lauer contributed 11 kills and six blocks and Raegan Moeller had five blocks.

Indian Hills has a chance to avenge one of its losses in a 22-9 season when it goes to Council Bluffs to battle Iowa Western in a conference matchup on Tuesday.
