IHCC Fights Back to Take Down MS-WP

West Plains, Missouri -- Faced with having to battle back to beat the host school to salvage the final match in a weekend tournament, Indian Hills showed great determination in coming from behind to knock off Missouri State-West Plains.  The Warriors dropped the first two sets to MS-WP, 25-19 and 25-18 -- after losing their first three matches of the tourney -- before turning their fortunes around.  They stormed back to win 25-23, 25-18 and 15-9 to claim the five-set duel with the Grizzlies.  Camila Nicoletti was one of the IHCC players who came up big, contributing 20 kills on .310 hitting and adding a team-high 20 digs.  Setter Yasmin Assis had her second consecutive match of 55 assists, Yelyzaveta Sharkova provided 14 digs and two ace serves and Shenglan Chen also had two aces.  Brooke Johnson-Watkins helped out with 8 kills and 6 blocks.

Indian Hills began the weekend by dropping a 3-0 match to a Jefferson (Mo.) team they had beaten three times already this fall.  The scores this time against the Vikings were 25-11, 25-23, 25-23.  Nicoletti and Mackenzie Lauer had 9 kills each, Maria Schroeder 25 assists and Jessica Da Silva 7 digs for IHCC.

The Warriors then lost a five-setter to Tyler (Tex.), taking the first two sets, 25-22, 25-22, before going down 25-21, 25-18, 15-12 in the next three.  Assis was responsible for 44 assists and Nicoletti 19 kills.

The first match on Saturday was against a ranked Panola team with the scores in that one, 25-17, 29-27, 26-28, 25-17, the Warriors losing 3-1.  Big at the net for IHCC were Nicoletti with 19 kills and Da Silva with 17.  Indian Hills had 65 digs including 15 each for Nicoletti and Da Silva. 

The results put the Warriors' season record at 23-13.  Their next three matches will be at home, starting with a conference test against Marshalltown on Wednesday.
