Indian Hills Picks Up Win in Home Finale

IHCC-NCC VB

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills ended the home portion of its schedule with a 3-0 win against Northeast (Neb.) on Thursday afternoon at the Hellyer Center.  The victory was the fourth in a row for the Warriors (26-13) who went 7-1 on their home court this season, the latest victim the team ranked No. 20 in NJCAA Division II.  IHCC took the three sets 25-14, 25-23, 25-20.

After rolling to a relatively easy opening-set win, the Warriors found themselves in a battle with the Hawks in set two.  There were 12 ties and five lead changes.  Indian Hills was up early but Northeast battled back to tie the score at 23-all.  Back-to-back kills by Camila Nicoletti ended the set in the Warriors' favor.

IHCC roared away to a 14-7 advantage in the third set before the Hawks rallied to go on top 20-19.  Indian Hills then ended the set, and the match, by scoring six of the next seven points.

Nicoletti had a team-best 15 kills for the Warriors, hitting .333, and added 12 digs and three service aces.  Jessica DaSilva slammed 13 kills, had 13 digs and five blocks.  Setter Yasmin Assis was credited with 38 assists and Reagan Moeller matched DaSilva with five blocks.

The four-match win streak for the Warriors comes after they had lost four in a row.

They conclude the regular-season schedule when they go to DMACC on Monday.  The teams met over two months ago in Ottumwa in the season opener, which Indian Hills won 3-0.  It's the final tuneup for an IHCC squad that begins postseason action on Nov. 3.
