Vranic Signs With St. Francis Brooklyn

Vranic

Ottumwa -- Iva Vranic, a key performer for the Indian Hills volleyball team that is preparing for an appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament, has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education and volleyball career at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York.

Vranic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia who prior to IHCC played at Gateway Christian Academy in St. Louis, is currently 14th in the NJCAA in hitting percentage at .378.  She is third on the Warriors with her 282 kills and leads in block assists with 94 and solo blocks with 27, for a total of 121.

"Iva has been a key to both our offense and defense," said IHCC coach Lyndsey Michel.  "Her hitting percentage is a reflection of her versatility and dynamic ability.  She is also an incredible blocker and helps the defense and the players surrounding her make plays.  Iva will be outstanding at the next level.  She is ready, both on the court and in the classroom, where she is a 4.0 student!  She will be missed at Indian Hills."

Vranic helped the Warriors sew up a national tournament berth with her strong net play.  Indian Hills will take a 35-3 record and 17-match winning streak into the tourney in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Their first-round opponent will be Otero JC in a 9 a.m. match on Nov. 21.
