NO. 11 WARRIORS MOVE TO 10-1 ON THE YEAR

Galesburg, IL – A 10-day layoff for the No. 11 Indian Hills Volleyball team proved to be a nonfactor on Tuesday as the Warriors swept Carl Sandburg College (IL) in straight sets. The Warriors move to 10-1 overall on the year.

Winners of nine consecutive matches, the Warriors returned to action for the first time since August 28 when the team wrapped up its 5-0 weekend in Yuma, AZ. The Warriors went into the John M. Lewis Gymnasium Tuesday night and cruised to a sweep – 25-17, 25-15, 25-17. 12 different Warriors contributed on the court in the win.

"We were a bottle of execution tonight," stated head coach Lyndsey Michel. Lots of first ball finishes made for a fun night. We had the opportunity to get some girls in the mix we haven't gotten to see full time yet."

Brooke Amann (Woodstock, IL/South Dakota State), Precious Daley (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt), and Vanessa Freitas (Cosmopolis, Brazil/Votuporanga Commercial) all posted a team-high six kills on the night. Freitas, making her first-career start for the Warriors, posted a .385 hitting percentage in the win.

Hennesys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic / Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) dished out 27 assists to go along with a career-high seven service aces. Lalane ranks third in the nation with 29 service aces this year and ranks sixth nationally in total assists.

Jentry Schafer (Prescott, IA/Southwest Valley) made her first start of the season and collected three kills along with three block assists to aid the Warrior victory.

Erika Calderon Rosario (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Salome Urena de Henriquez) tallied a .571 hitting percentage with four kills and two total blocks for a solid overall effort.

The Warriors will travel to Southeastern Community College Friday night to take on the Blackhawks at 6:00 PM.
