STRONG START NOT ENOUGH AS WARRIORS FALL

Council Bluffs, IA – The Indian Hills Volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road to No. 5 Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday night. The Warriors fall to 16-11 overall and 2-2 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play.

Indian Hills, a member of the Receiving Votes category in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball poll, fell in straight sets to the Reivers – 27-25, 25-23, and 25-17.

The Warriors built a commanding lead to open up the match with a 15-12 lead in the first set. Indian Hills expanded on the lead and built its advantage to 22-17 before the Reivers stormed back. Both sides traded blows before the home team walked away with the opening set victory.

Set two belonged to the Warriors early on once again with an 11-7 edge only to see the nationally ranked Reivers storm back to take the lead and eventually a 2-0 set lead. Iowa Western jumped out to a 5-0 lead early on in set three and never looked back to earn the sweep.

Melodee Schulte (Kaneohe, HI/Southeastern CC) and Chantal Paniagua (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Nuevo Atardecer) led the Warriors defensively with 15 digs apiece. Jarolin de los Santos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Luis Munoz Rivera) continued to climb the leaderboards in the blocking category, totaling seven stops on the night. The sophomore ranks seventh nationally with 116 blocks on the year.

Precious Daley (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) added three total blocks to go along with a team-high eight kills for the Warriors.

Indian Hills returns home to host Kirkwood Community College at 3:00 PM Friday inside the Hellyer Center.
