Park City, KS – The defending Junior College National Champions Indian Hills Women's Wrestling opened up its 2021-22 season at the Falcon Invitational hosted by Friends University (KS) on Saturday. Three Warriors earned top-four finishes for the Warriors.
Kennedy Shropshire (Lawreneville, GA/Mountain View) earned medalist honors for Indian Hills with a third-place finish in the 109lb weight class. Shropshire fell in the semifinal round, but bounced back to win the final two matches to earn the third-place medal. Shrophshire tallied four falls on the day, including an opening-round pin in 37 seconds.
In the 116lb weight class, returning All-American Heaven-Leigh Jackson (Brooksville, FL/Hernando) placed fourth overall after reaching the third-place match. Jackson won each of her first three matches by tech fall, winning 10-0, 10-0, and 12-0. Jackson also won by a 6-0 decision in the consolation semifinal round.
Ginamarie Ayala (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Luz American Calderon) finished strong for the Warriors in the 155lb weight class with a fourth-place showing. The sophomore won each of her first three matches before falling in the semifinal round. Ayala earned a 2-1 decision in the consolation semifinal round.
Next up for the Warriors is the Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, MO on Nov. 21.
